Semarang – The Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program, Vocational School of Diponegoro University, organized a Semester Learning Plan (Rencana Pembelajaran Semester/RPS) Alignment Workshop on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Horison Antawirya Hotel, Semarang. The event was part of the study program’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education by aligning its curriculum with technological advancements and the evolving needs of the business and industrial sectors.
The workshop was officially opened by Dr. Ida Hayu Dwimawanti, M.M., Vice Dean I of the Vocational School, Diponegoro University. In her opening remarks, she emphasized that the development and continuous refinement of the Semester Learning Plan (RPS) are strategic efforts to ensure that Vocational School graduates possess relevant competencies, remain adaptable, and are well-prepared to meet the challenges of an ever-evolving job market.
The workshop featured three distinguished speakers from both industry and academia, providing comprehensive insights into the development of vocational education curricula.
The first speaker, Mr. Fransiskus Buntaran, President Director of PT Sertikomlis, delivered a presentation on the importance of aligning graduate competencies with workforce competency standards in the electrical engineering sector. He highlighted that industries today require graduates who not only possess strong technical skills but also hold professional competency certifications, which serve as a significant advantage when entering the workforce.
The second speaker, Ir. Tomer Lumban Tobing, President Director of PT SIP, discussed current trends in industrial technology and the competencies required by modern industries. He explained that digital transformation, industrial automation, and the implementation of advanced electrical systems require higher education institutions to continuously update their learning materials to ensure they remain relevant to industry demands.
Meanwhile, the third speaker, Rofiq Cahyo Prayogo, S.T., M.T., a lecturer at the Vocational School of Diponegoro University, presented strategies for developing Semester Learning Plans based on the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach integrated with VIOLA (Vocational Integrated Learning Outcome Automation). He explained how this framework enables systematic curriculum design by integrating learning outcomes, teaching methods, assessment strategies, and students’ learning experiences to achieve the expected graduate competencies.
Through this workshop, the Industrial Electrical Engineering Study Program aims to produce higher-quality Semester Learning Plan documents that are more responsive to industry needs while supporting the implementation of a competency-based curriculum. Furthermore, the program expects to strengthen collaboration between higher education institutions and industry partners to produce vocational graduates who are competent, professional, and well-prepared to compete at both the national and global levels.
